MSD Presents New Rate Proposal to Rate Commission

The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) made a formal presentation to its Rate Commission today, Wed., March 4, regarding proposed rate changes for fiscal years 2017-2020. Under charter-defined parameters, the Rate Commission will review MSD’s proposal and make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees. The entire proposal can be found by visiting www.stlmsd.com/RateCommission.

A series of municipal and community briefings hosted by MSD will introduce the Rate Commission process and an overview of the proposal. The goals of these meetings are to communicate the components of and reasoning behind the proposal. Four municipal meetings will be conducted to provide information to elected officials and key municipal staff. Additionally, MSD will host four identical community meetings. The meetings will include a 30-minute presentation reviewing MSD Project Clear updates and the Rate Commission process by Executive Director Brian Hoelscher, followed by a question and answer session. The Rate Commission will hold their own meetings tentatively scheduled in May, specifically to hear public comment about the proposal. Individuals may request to be an intervener in the Rate Commission process via an application available at www.stlmsd.com/RateCommission.
